Frequently Asked Questions

If I have had a glasses exam can I get contact lenses?
The glasses prescription and the contact lens prescription are two separate prescriptions and require a special examination for each. In order to wear contact lenses you must have a contact lens fitting to determine proper contact lens sizing and prescription because the contact and glasses prescription are not always the same.

Which drops can you use while wearing contact lenses to relieve dry eye?
There are specific drops for contact lens wearers such as Blink, Complete Blink and Clean, or Renu contact lens lubricant. . These can be purchased at a drug store or places such as Target or Wal-Mart. Consult a pharmacist with any questions.

Can I wear my siblings’ contact lenses?
No, sharing contact lenses with anyone, even family, is not something anyone can do. Eye infections can easily be spread from sharing contact lenses. The prescription also could be different and cause headaches and other visual problems!

What is astigmatism?
Astigmatism is an optical defect in which refractive power is not uniform in all meridians. Light rays entering the eye are bent unequally by different meridians, preventing formation of sharp point focus on the retina. Instead, light rays form two focal lines corrected by a cylindrical (toric) eyeglass or contact lens.
