Medical Oncology
Medical Oncologists at the Innovis Health Cancer Center focus on treatment of cancer and blood disorders. The services provided by the Innovis Health Cancer Center Medical Oncology Department are:
- Diagnosis and consultation
- Medical second opinions in diagnosis or course of treatment
- Treatment/infusion therapies (chemotherapy)
- Personal and telephone support
Each therapy we employ in your care is based on a research-proven treatment regimen. This evidence-based system builds on existing cancer research and results in improved care for you. Likewise, successes in your care benefit patients to follow. Central to this treatment structure are clinical trials whereby patients are able to choose to participate in new therapies in the testing phase. These may involve new drugs or an innovative combination of existing drugs.
Diagnosis:
The physician and the patient devise a treatment plan together that is specific and individualized according to his/her diagnosis. This is to make sure the patient, and his/her family, are in agreement for the best course of treatment and that they feel educated by that decision.
Consultation/Second Opinion:
The physician gives advice on the best possible care for the patient. If this requires additional consultations or the opinion of another qualified physician, we will work together as a team to determine the best course of treatment or our patient.
Treatment:
The physician and other specially trained professionals provide care which may include chemotherapy and other IV or oral therapies. The type of treatment that has been chosen is in the bext interest of our patient and will be explained thoroughly so that any questions or concerns the patient has will be answered.
Telephone Support:
Registered nurses and physicians provide telephone support. All new chemotherapy clients receive a call from a registered nurse to assess tolerance of therapy and help manage side effects. The patient can contact the Innovis Health Cancer Center about any questions or concerns they may have regarding treatment. Please call us at 701-364-8910 to be directed to a nurse.
