ACS Alert Program

When every minute counts...

Research has proven that patients with ACS (Acute Coronary Syndrome), are much more likely to recover fully from their heart attack if treated within 90 minutes. This treatment includes percutaneous coronary intervention What does this mean? or coronary angioplasty What does this mean?, which requires a cardiac catheterization lab What does this mean? staffed by highly skilled physicians and clinicians.

This type of catheterization lab is typically found only in metro areas and not available in rural communities.

Innovis Health has developed the ACS Alert program. This unique program essentially brings the Cath lab and team of skilled caregivers to our rural patients experiencing an acute MI What does this mean?.

Program Overview

Alert

The Acute Coronary Syndrome Alert program at Innovis Health was developed to help connect rural areas with the equipment, technology, and medical procedures available to patients in metro areas.

The program relies upon a high degree of collaboration between community hospitals, Emergency Medical Services, and Innovis Health.

When a patient in our surrounding community is diagnosed with a ST-segment elevated MI the ACS Alert program is put into motion and the ACS Alert Team at Innovis Health begins work immediately. Switchboard operators, Emergency room nurses and paramedics expedite patient transfer from the helicopter or ambulance to the catheterization lab, where a full Cath lab team is awaiting the patients arrival. The admitting staff work to guarantee a patient bed. Later, Innovis staff welcome and care for family members when they arrive.

Treatment

The treatment goal is to direct angioplasty/stent the coronary artery causing the MI within 120 minutes from the time the patient arrives at their local emergency department to balloon inflation of the coronary artery at Innovis Health catheterization lab. Every minute counts for a patient having an acute MI. The ACS Alert program at Innovis Health is dedicated to prompt and expert treatment of the acute MI patient, no matter where that patient lives. Our commitment is treatment of the patient in 120 minutes or less.
